Architectural design firm, Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo (WATG), in partnership with fishcake, presents Wombat Ltd - Wimberlost Works, an exhibition that explores different facets of the architectural career of Pete Wimberly, founder of WATG. The retrospective highlights some of Pete Wimberly’s personal fascinations, his intimate residential projects, and his prominent influence on Hawai‘i’s architectural language. A special evening reception celebrating Pete’s legacy will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2019 from 5pm to 8pm and will be open to the public. The retrospective will be on exhibit at fishcake from September 21, 2019 to October 5, 2019.
The showcase will be running in conjunction with the 7th Annual Docomomo U.S. National Symposium in Honolulu, September 25-28, 2019 hosted this year by the Docomomo US/Hawaii Chapter. The 2019 symposium is a four-day event, titled “Mixed Modern: Modern Architecture in a Multicultural Context” offering attendees an opportunity to learn firsthand how modernism was adapted for Hawaii’s tropical climate and diverse culture.
The Docomomo US/Hawaii Chapter advances the understanding, preservation, and documentation of the modern movement in the State of Hawaii in the areas of urban planning.
