fishcake presents "big island mokuhanga", opening wednesday, september 27th, 2017 from 6-8pm, showcasing the artistic craftsmanship of mokuhanga, featuring work from renowned mokuhanga practitioners Hiroki Morinoue, Glenn Yamanoha, Lonny Tomono, Jeera Rattanangkoon, Miho Morinoue, and Vickie Van Fechtmann.
fishcake is excited to present Makiki, opening Thursday, June 15th, 2017, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Makiki marks the starting point in a collaborative exhibition by artists Duncan Dempster and Justin Davies. The two have joined to create a series of works using a shared set of photos.
The Box Jelly and fishcake are now accepting proposals for the next Box Jelly + fishcake Artist-in-Residence, a 3-month opportunity to create new work for a solo exhibition in Honolulu, Hawai’i, in the heart of Kakaʻako. In anticipation of the next artist selection, The Box Jelly and Fishcake will kickoff a new event series called, Artists in Conversation on May 31st, 2017, at 6:00pm at The Box Jelly. The first session features recent artists-in-residence, Amelia Samari and Laurie Sumiye, who will lend unique insight into the their experiences with issues affecting today’s emerging designers, as well as answer questions about the upcoming summer residency.
