Workshop Description

1 day ceramics class With Ashanty Cruz Open to all levels, ages 18+ In this Nerikomi workshop students will learn the Japanese technique of layering, cutting, and arranging patterns of colored clay. Using these patterned clay slabs as inlay, students will create their own custom plate. Some hand-building experience is helpful but not necessary All materials provided. Ashanty is a Puerto Rican American creative with a knack for experimenting. After serving as a Peace Corps Health Educator in Rwanda, she came back to the U.S. and dove into the world of graphic design and ceramics. Recently, she hit pause on her corporate design career to fully embrace ceramics and art. Her approach? Try everything, see what sticks, and have fun with the unexpected surprises along the way.
