About the event
Fishcake celebrates its 11th annual exhibit of KAGU / AKARI (meaning "furniture / luminaire" in Japanese), showcasing Hawaii-based artists, architects, and design makers. Â Each year, we welcome both veterans and new talents to feature new one-of-a-kind furniture and lighting creations.
This year we invite Andrew Mau as our curator to hand pick work that embodies a "japandi" (japanese - scandi) style. Andrew Mau has designed, consulted, and taught at the rhode island school of design for many years before moving back to honolulu and opening his shop "island-boy." Concurrently exhibiting with KAGU / AKARI is featured local painters Jarin Moriguchi, Michael Cutlip, Ayaka Takao and Cecca Marrone. Â Both exhibits are on view, September 8 through November 12, 2022.
A room is only as interesting as the conversation that lingers among its inhabitants. Stop by and see what the buzz is about.
