synopsis: A bird’s tale from the Extinction Capital of the World, the Palila was the first animal which successfully sued humans to prevent their extinction. Told by the stuffed Palila who stood in the trial as lead plaintiff in “Palila v. Hawaii”– a landmark case using the Endangered Species Act – the film poetically weaves nature, scientific, and indigenous perspectives into a spellbinding story of survival through vivid animation, interviews, vérité, wildlife and archival media.
