About the event
The cycle of life exists in all things, including objects of design. Let us take our time and consider where things come from, what they become, and how they change over time.
Strive to design the full life-cycle of a furniture or light object in parallel with the object itself. Â Determine how the materials can be sourced sustainably. Â Consider the potential lifespan and usage of the piece. Â Design how the object can be disposed / recycled / reclaimed when it can no longer be used.
Are the materials sourced locally and sustainably?
Can the design bring value to undesirable material that may be readily available?
Can the object be useful over multiple generations? Â Is it repairable or upgradable?
Can the materials re-integrate into a sustainable resource cycle? Â Can the material be returned to nature or repurposed easily?
Slow design for the future.
