Sanit Khewhok -Bio narrative
Sanit Khewhok is a painter, sculptor, curator, conservator and art restorer who has been an active member of the Honolulu art community since 1986. He was born in Trang, Thailand, in 1944, After graduating from Silpakorn University in Bangkok in 1970 he received a four-year scholarship to study in Rome, Italy, at the Academy of Fine Arts where he graduated in 1975 with a master's degree in mural painting and conservation. After working at Bangkok's National Gallery as Curator of Western Art from 1978 to 1986, he worked as Chief Conservator and Collections Manager at The Contemporary Museum in Honolulu from 1988 to 2008. He was Curator of the Hawai'i Pacific University Art Gallery, Hawaii Loa Campus, from 1999-2024. He has exhibited internationally, received numerous awards and in 2010 was the recipient of the Catherine E.B. Cox Award for Excellence in the Visual Arts at the Honolulu Museum of Arts.
